Finance Committee Chairman MK Nissan Slomiansky (Jewish Home) will convene a special meeting dedicated to the announcement by Teva Pharmaceuticals of its intention to lay off 800 Israeli employees and the implications of this on the Israeli economy.
MK Slomiansky said, "I was surprised to hear that the pharmaceutical company was about to lay off 800 employees. Each employee represents an entire family, and this in turn affects thousands of people as these folks join the ranks of the unemployed. Teva has received special tax considerations in the last several years that were contingent upon a mutual agreement that it continue to employ Israelis here at home."
"And for this reason, I will be here on Wednesday for this special session to meet together with all the affected parties," the Chairman noted.
