Construction vehicles and building contractor equipment, typical in the ever-growing city of Jerusalem, will not be permitted Tuesday on certain streets due to the memorial for Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. The municipality and the police are preparing for masses to arrive at the home of the rabbis's family and the yeshiva where he taught.
The 93-year-old Rabbi Ovadia Yosef was a chief rabbi of Israel and wrote numerous books on Jewish law. His funeral on Monday was attended by between 800,000 and 1 million people, making it the largest funeral in the modern Sta of Israel. IN addition, hundreds are reportedly visiting the cemetery as of Tuesday afternoon. During the seven days following an individual's passing a memorial "shiva" period is observed.
