Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu-Zuhri said, Sunday, that the Palestinian Authority must abandon the path of dialog with Israel, implement internal reconciliation and formulate an agreed-upon strategy for dealing with what he called Zionist intransigence and crimes. He cited Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's words that negotiations have not achieved results because of the PA's refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
At the same time, Taher An-Nunu, a public relations consultant to the Hamas government in Gaza, denied a report that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas would visit Gaza with the approval of Gaza leader Ismail Haniyeh. The report, on the Rai Al-Yaum Website, said that the possibility of an Abbas visit came up during remarks by Haniyeh to reporters. The agenda for such a visit would be to discuss the crisis in Gaza and unilateral measures by Israel to impose the reality of an agreement on the PA.
