The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest to moderate gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,159.37, up 1.41 percent, while the TA 100 climbed 1.42 percent to 1,153.06, including an advance of 1.4 percent to 1,275.30 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,101.75, up .94 percent.
Leading the way was the insurance index, which rose 1.88 percent to 1,466.18 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,199.39, up 1.15 percent, including a gain of .82 percent to 1,227.56 by the bank issues. The real-estate stocks closed at 364.55, up 1.73 percent, while the oil and natural-gas index rose 1.27 percent to 1,274.64. The communications issues stood at 765.77, up 1.09 percent, while most of the technology stocks advanced .98 percent to 334.26, and the biomed index closed at 1,027.62, up .91 percent.
