Supreme Court: Ofer Gamliel to Remain in Jail

A panel of Supreme Court justices convened today rejecting the petition by Ofer Gamliel to shorten the 15-year sentence he has been serving since the beginning of 2003. The panel of judges determined that the matter would be brought before the parole board in December, so that they could again discuss the issue.

Gamliel was sentenced to 15 years on attempted murder and weapons charges, after he was caught with two friends from the Bat Ayin Underground laying what appeared to be an explosive device next to a Muslim girls' school. Gamliel claimed that the device was never intended to go off, but to instill fear in the Arab community.
