Mezuzah Ceremony/Reservist Gathering in Shdema Friday

The Women in Green for Israel's Tomorrow have issued an invitation for soldiers who did reserve service in the Shdema military base between the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Homa and the eastern Gush Etzion Jewish community of Tekoa a mezuzah-affixing ceremony and reservist gathering scheduled for the base on Friday at 9:00 a.m.

The base was abandoned by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 2006 and destroyed by Arabs. Women in Green and the Committee for a Jewish Shdema have been active since 2008 to intensify the Jewish presence there against the claims of Arabs and leftist sympathizers. As a result of the two groups' efforts, the IDF returned to the site in 2010. The place was partly renovated during the summer, prompting the ceremony to affix a mezuzah, according to Deuteronomy 6:9)
