No Turkish Ban on Head Covering in Public Institutions

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced a series of reforms on Monday, designed to "boost Turkey's democratization process and preserve the peace process between Turkey and the Kurdish PKK movement."

One of the central elements of the reform is revoking the ban on wearing the Muslim hijab head covering in public institutions. The ban still applies to judges, legal petitioners, police officers and members of the military.
