The Tel Aviv District Court is scheduled to announce sentencing, Monday, in the case of former judge Dan Cohen, who was convicted in July under a plea bargaining agreement on charges of taking a bribe, fraud, breach of trust and obstructing justice. He had fled the country to South America, from where he was extradited.
Under the plea bargain, Cohen stands to serve six years in prison with a suspended sentence hanging over his head upon his release. He is to forfeit six million shekels and pay a fine of four million shekels. It is believed he is providing investigators information about corruption at the Israel Electric Corporation, from which his case allegedly stemmed.
