Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif, Thursday afternoon, regarding Iran's nuclear development program. The meeting, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Also taking part were European foreign-policy chief Catherine Ashton and diplomats from China, France, Germany and Britain.
It marks the first time in years that there has been a meeting at this high level between the two countries. White House Spokesman Jay Carney said the purpose of the meeting was to test Iran's seriousness regarding regulation of the Tehran government's nuclear program.
