Israeli Arrested for Visiting PA Auto Shop

A 23-year-old resident of Afula was arrested by police for visiting an auto shop in a Palestinian Authority assigned zone in Shromron. Highway patrol officers stopped the man near Hawara. Police said they discovered a suspended drivers license and a knife. They stated the driver was looking for a cheaper deal on installing a stereo system in his vehicle. Before the Oslo Accords of 1993 which created the Palestinian Authority, interaction between Jewish and Arab residents were much more common although still tense in the region. Today Yehuda (Judea) and Shomron (Samaria) is divided into Areas A, B and C. It is prohibited for Israeli citizens to visit Area A which is under full PA control.
