Following the week's shocking murders of children, the Knesset Committee on the Rights of Children has scheduled an urgent meeting for right after the Sukkot (Tabernacles) holiday to discuss the country's failure to implement the Winter Committee's recommendations on locating and taking care of children at risk, which were made years ago.
Committee Chairwoman Orly Levi-Abekasis said, "An end must be put to the situation where, time after time, the handwriting is on the wall and all the red lights are flashing but there are no clear procedures to deal with the situation. These shocking cases require a thorough examination and discussion. One cannot remain apathetic to the horrific events, especially when it comes to complaints and cases involving children. One must give full attention so that more such incidents are not repeated."
