Former Knesset member Elazar Granot passed away, Thursday, at the age of 86. A Jerusalem native, he served in the Jewish Brigade of the British army in Europe. In the War of Independence, he fought in the Student Battalion and the infantry regiment of Jerusalem. Granot served in the Knesset from 1981 to 1988 as a member of the Ma'arach and Mapam parties and became Secretary-General of Mapam in 1985.
He lived out his years in the Negev kibbutz of Shoval, where he is scheduled to be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m.
