Police allowed residents of nine homes in the first line of exposure to a forest fire in the Upper Galilee community of Amirim to return to their homes, Sunday afternoon, about an hour after the homes were evacuated. Highway 89 in the vicinity of the Amirim Junction was re-opened. It had been closed to allow firefighting crews and equipment in the community.
The Israel Electric Company said it was asked to shut down the high-tension line serving Amirim, Shefer and Parod. The utility has personnel on the scene to respond to orders from a command center set up by firefighters and other authorities.
