The weather today, Friday, Erev Yom Kippur, is being described as "heat wave" conditions - hot and dry, way above seasonal norms, and will be mainly felt in the mountains and central inland plains. The fire index will be high to extreme until 1:00 p.m. in the central mountains, the northern mountains and valleys, the coastal plain and Mount Carmel. Tonight will be warm, relatively speaking, with possible fog in the western Negev and at the beaches. Shabbat/Yom Kippur is forecast to be unusually hot, especially in the mountains and inland, with higher humidity on the coastal plains. Sunday and Monday should see small and gradual drops in temperature, with partly cloudy skies.
