Likud Ministers Support Moshe Lion for Jerusalem Mayor

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon and Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin all came out in support of Moshe Lion for mayor of Jerusalem. The three ministers are affiliated with the Likud -Yisrael Beiteinu faction. Lion (sometimes spelled Leon in English) spent the past five years as head of the Jerusalem Development Authority. They praise his religious Zionist outlook. and called him "a man of action."

Mayor Nir Barkat of the Jerusalem Will Succeed is running for a second term. Also running is Arieh King on the Outlying Neighborhoods Slate. He is the head of the Israel Land Fund which advocates for Jewish neighborhoods in post 1967 districts. A fourth candidate is Yosef "Pepe" Alalu, a long-time city council member from the Meretz Party. He is running on a joint Meretz - Labor Party slate.
