Tonight (Tuesday) thousands of worshipers are expected to attend the traditional Slihot prayers said during the Ten Days of Repentance (the days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron. The Cave of the Patriarchs is where founding fathers and mothers of Judaism are buried, in addition to Adam and Eve - our patriarchs and matriarchs.
“We are coming to our father(s) and mother(s)”, said Rabbi Hillel Horowitz, one of the event’s organizers, “who are our roots, heart and foundations. We are praying that in the merit of the forefathers, we will be saved.”
Expected to attend will be Israel’s Chief Rabbis, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and Rabbi David Lau, who will be offering opening remarks at the event.
