Supreme Court May Cancel Law Curbing Infiltration

During a hearing held Tuesday in the Supreme Court Judge Edna Arbel announced a judgment will be determined in the next few days on the Prevention of Infiltration law. The law was enacted in 2012 to curb the large influx of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border into Israel. The majority of such people are from Eritrea and Sudan. The Israeli government has determined that most of the infiltrators are migrant workers looking for jobs and a small minority are refugees from war torn areas.

Justice Arbel made the announcement during a heard on the legality of procedures in how to handle infiltrators who have broken the law.
