Colonel Yossi Pinto, who commands the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) Binyamin Brigade, said, recently, that the amount of terrorism in the brigade's sector has not changed significantly recently but the level and quality of the terrorist infrastructure, planning and preparations for attacks has increased, according to the IDF Website. Speaking at an event before last week's Rosh Hashana Jewish New Year observances, Pinto said, "The threats of gunfire against our forces are significant. Because of the size of the area, we often work in smaller teams, which can be a weak point , and it requires us to be professional and trained."
Pinto said the mission of the military has become more complex, explaining that what's going on in neighboring countries is far away but can reach here quickly. He added, "It obligates us to a high intelligence level and we check ourselves to make sure our efforts to really bring the level of intelligence required. The level of terror was and remains challenging."
