Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv started Monday-morning trading with modest gains. About 70 minutes into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,080.39, .51 percent above Sunday's close, while the TA 100 rose .52 percent to 1,074.15, including a gain of .59 percent to 1,172.28 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,013.15, up .43 percent.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which jumped 2.57 percent to 676.19. The bank issues stood at 1,110.48, up .76 percent, tempered by the insurance stocks' decline of .35 percent to 1,347.93, to put the financial institutions at 1,101.42, up .17 percent. The biomed issues advanced .55 percent to 957.20, while the rest of the technology issues stood at 322.90, up .36 percent. The real-estate stocks gained .32 percent to 343.28, while the oil and natural-gas index fell by the same percentage to 1,173.43.
