Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the week's first day of trading, Sunday, with moderate to sharp losses. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,074.94, down 1.14 percent, while the TA 100 declined 1.24 percent to 1,068.62, including a drop of 1.21 percent to 1,165.42 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,008.03, down .02 percent.
Worst hit was the insurance index, which plunged 2.42 percent to 1,352.65 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,099.51, down 2.11 percent, including a 2.1-percent loss to 1,102.13 by the bank issues. The communications stocks stood at 659.25, down 2.04 percent, and the real-estate index closed down 1.41 percent at 342.20. The oil and natural-gas issues stood at 1,177.24, down 1.22 percent, while the same percentage loss meant a posting of 951.96 by the biomed stocks, and the rest of the technology index closed at 321.73, down .88 percent.
