These last days has seen a flurry of work to prepare the Rosh Hashana feast for all IDF units. Tomorrow, on the eve of Rosh Hashana, IDF soldiers and officers stationed in bases and outposts throughout the country will be readying themselves to sit down to a festive New Year’s meal.
Six tons of fish, 420 pieces of gefilte fish, 21 tons of turkey, 16.5 tons of chicken and 18 tons of beef will all be prepared for the enjoyment of the IDF soldiers who won’t be able to be at home for the holiday. The units will also be receiving 15 tons of apples to be generously dipped in 2 tons of honey, as according to tradition. The tables will also be laden with 2 tons of dried fruit, 5.5 tons of pomegranates, 5 tons of yellow dates, and 8 tons of honey cake.
