An investigation of an apparent attempt by two Palestinian Authority residents to break into Ben-Gurion Airport, Monday evening, shows that their arrival at the airport was a mistake. The incident started when the two Arabs allegedly stole a truck and lost their way. Airport Manager Shmuel Zackai told a media briefing, Tuesday morning, that the two fled from the vehicle and were caught by security personnel before they reached the terminal. An Israel Police sapper examined the truck and determined that it was not a bomb.
Zackai said, "At the moment there are delays as a result of the accumulation of activity. It's a very busy night, a night when hasidim are leaving for Uman and New Year's Eve - 60 thousand passengers in 24 hours, but we were able to return to the airport to regular activity quickly enough."
