Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevented a vote on the law submitted by MK Orit Struk (Jewish Home) to extend rights for working women to Judea and Samaria (Shomron). However, he also gave an ultimatum that the rights extended to every Israeli citizen also applies to those living in Judea and Samaria, in accordance with Israeli law and that they must be enforced by October 13. 2013 (the opening of the Knesset winter session), whether or not it is to be brought to the Knesset for legislation.
“All Israeli citizens, including those in Judea and Samaria, are entitled to equal rights; I am committed to this,” the Prime Minister stated.
It was also decided to examine differences in labor law legislation to prevent discrimination against Israelis living in Judea and Samaria.
