Israeli Couple Escapes Samarian Arab Robbery Attempt

An Israeli couple escaped an apparent carjacking or robbery attempt, before dawn Friday morning, on Highway 60, in the "Pillbox" area near the Binyamin-region Jewish community of Ofra. A car with Palestinian Authority (PA) license plates zigzagged and slowed down in front of the Israeli car, driven by a woman as her husband slept beside her.

Before the Israeli car came to a complete stop, the driver of the PA car got out and came to the woman's window, armed with a club. The woman screamed, waking her husband, who grabbed the steering wheel as his wife stepped on the gas. They drove around the would-be robber and the PA car, who closed in on them as they neared Ofra, but fled toward the village of Ein Yabrud once the couple entered Ofra.
