The security cabinet approved a limited number of the Air Force reserves to be called up. The mobilization is in response to the potential strike by United Kingdom and United States forces against Syrian chemical weapons sites.
The call-up is limited to designated positions in the IDF Home Front Command and the Air Force. The security cabinet also approved the deployment of extra anti-missile defense systems in the northern region.
If a British-American alliance decides to intervene in Syria is will be to preempt any future use of chemical weapons that could present a future danger to other countries. Syrian rebel leaders said that the regime of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad shot a missile with chemical gases which killed hundreds last week.
