Lakhdar Brahimi, the United Nations and Arab League Special Envoy to Syria stated on Wednesday there is evidence that Syria used chemical weapons to kill hundreds of people. At a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland Brahimi said that any intervention by the United Kingdom and the United States should get the approval of the United Nations Security Council beforehand.
"I do not know what the U.S. government will decide, but international law is very clear on this issue. any military action must be approved by the UN Security Council before any military action," he said. Brahimi is an Algerian United Nations envoy and advisor. Prior to his appointment as special envoy, he was a UN special representative for Afghanistan and Iraq and represented the National Liberation Front in Tunis.
