Interior Minister Gideon Sa'ar (Likud - Yisrael Beiteinu) declared that Israel will continue to build housing units despite the newly started negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. "We will continue to build in Jewish neighborhoods in eastern sectors of Jerusalem regardless of the negotiations with the Palestinian Authority," stated Sa'ar. In past negotiations, Israel instituted a moratorium on new construction plans as a concession to the PA. Sa'ar voiced his opposition to any potential new freeze. He made his comments during a meeting with students in Ma'ale Adumim. The city, located east of Jerusalem, is in high demand for more housing.
