The Transportation Ministry announced, Tuesday, that pilot error was to blame in the crash of a twin-engine private plane which took the life of its pilot, accountant Yigal Breitman, and injured two on August 1st at the northern end of Eilat. Chief Investigator Yitzhak Raz presented the preliminary report to Breitman's family last week. The full report is expected in a number of weeks.
According to report, Breitman meant to switch the flow of fuel to the right engine from the outside tank to the inside tank but accidently stopped the flow of fuel, turning off the right engine, which wasn't noticeable because the propellers continued to turn. Responding to instructions to the airplane behind him, he opened both throttles and, because only the left engine was running, the plane turned over and plunged to the ground.
