The Labor faction chairman, MK Yitzhak Herzog, sees the events that took place yesterday (Wednesday) in Syria, where more than a thousand people were killed in a chemical attack, as further evidence for the need for international intervention in Syria.
“The shocking images we saw from Syria only show us that the situation stands to continue to deteriorate. Those of you who are familiar with my stance on this over the past couple of years know that the U.S. should have led an international force to replace the Assad regime”, Herzog wrote on his Facebook page this morning (Thursday).
He continued, “This would have prevented the enormous humanitarian suffering that the Syrians are undergoing, had they been within a democratic framework. Now, several years have gone by, and the Jihadist forces have entered the picture in support of rebel forces, making it almost impossible to extricate them.”
