State Comptroller, (Ret.) Joseph Shapiro has this afternoon (Wednesday) issued three campaign finance related fines. The first dealt with Jewish Home, who told the Comptroller that they thought Minister Naftali Bennett received an excessively high fine, which was in the amount of NIS 65,000, for violation of the law and using campaign money for the private investigator he hired to spy on fellow Bayit Yehudi MK Nissan Slomiansky.
MK Prof. Daniel Hershkowitz, of the Ministry of Science and Technology was fined NIS 2,000, for not having the proper paper trail for some of his election expenses. In addition, he was told to return a total of NIS 116,000 to donors (of the illegal donations).
