Turkish Leader Theorizes Israel Behind Egypt Ouster

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of being responsible for the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi from power. He made the comments on Tuesday at a meeting in Ankara with members of his political party. Erdogan said he based his theory on a statement by former Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman from before the election of Morsi in 2012.

Erdogan said that Neeman made comments at a conference in France predicting that if a Muslim Brotherhood candidate would win the Egyptian elections, they would not remain in power for long. Morsi was the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate in the elections. He was removed from power this summer following massive protests led by General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.
