The liturgical traditions of the Sephardic and Mediterranean Jewish community will be celebrated at the 6th annual Piyut Festival next month. Musicians will include Diwan Saz with Jewish Kurdish music, Rabbi Haim Louk, Israeli rocker Berry Sakharof, Rea Mochiach, a Tribute to Moshe Eliyahu, Ladino songs with Yasim Levy, a survey of songs for Slichot and more. According to the organizers, the Piyut Festival "provides a musical platform to bond Jewish cultures and communities, and a lively artistic dialogue between tradition and contemporary culture."
It is being sponsored by the Beit Avi Chai Foundation and other organizations. The performances will be held at the Beit Avi Chai center and other concert venues in Jerusalem. The event lasts from September 8th - September 11th.
