The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange opened Monday trading with modest gains. About half an hour into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,107.52, up .27 percent, while the same percentage increase meant a posting of 1,103.95, including a gain of .36 percent to 1,211.63 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,010.06, up .24 percent.
Leading the way was the communications index, which rose .95 percent to 700.74, followed by the insurance issues, which stood at 1,381.16, up .48 percent as the financial institutions advanced .13 percent to 1,136.16, including a rise of .08 percent to 1,148.01 by the bank stocks. The oil and natural-gas index stood at 1,222.68, up three tenths of a percent, followed by the real-estate issues, which rose .12 percent to 362.72. The biomed stocks stood at 946.97, up .05 percent, while the rest of the technology index edged up .02 percent to 321.62.
