Member of Knesset Reuven Rivlin said, Sunday, that he has campaigned with senior officials of the Red Cross to cancel their ban on the Magen David Adom (MDA-Red Star of David) of Israel to provide emergency medical services beyond the 1949 Armistice Line. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, he said that Jerusalem is not only Israel's capital but a guarantee that peace is possible between its populations.
The former Knesset speaker said, "One who seeks to divide Jerusalem perpetuates the conflict [between Jew and Arab -ed.]" adding that the European dream of a peace barrier between the ethnic neighborhoods - based on the notion that the areas beyond the ceasefire line are occupied - cannot be implemented and the true peace fence is the lack of a fence. He said for MDA not to provide service to all of Jerusalem is "delusional", conceding that the European notion about separation poses serious questions, given the government's stated support of the two-state solution.
