Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange ended the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with modest to sharp gains. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,104.57, up .23 percent, while the TA 100 rose .16 percent to 1,100.97, including a two-tenths-of-a-percent gain to 1,207.24 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,007.60, up 1.82 percent.
Leading the way was the biomed index, which jumped 2.19 percent to 946.52, while the rest of the technology issues stood at 321.56, up .86 percent. The bank stocks advanced .99 percent to 1,147.11 as the financial institutions finished the day at 1,134.71, up .88 percent, including a .46-percent rise to 1,374.52 by the insurance index. The communications issues stood at 694.14, up .73, while the oil and natural-gas stocks gained .58 percent to 1,218.97 and the real-estate index closed at 362.28, down three tenths of a percent.
