Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon told visiting Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations, Friday, "We identify Hezbollah military activity near the border with Israel, even though according to UN Resolution 1701 Hezbollah should not be there and operate from there." At this point, Ya'alon showed Ban a map of southern Lebanese communities populated by civilians, which Hezbollah uses as fighting positions, including the launching of missiles at Israel, and the storage of weapons.
Expressing his appreciation for the presence of UN troops on the Lebanese and Syrian border, he said, "Hezbollah is a strategic arm of Iran in Lebanon. It is an organization which is a state within a state. They get weapons from Iran and Syria. It is Iran's main weapon against Israel on command."
