President Shim'on Peres and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations said, Friday, that the lack of media leaks from negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) shows how serious the talks are. Speaking to the media during Ban's visit to the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem, Peres said, "Despite the prophecies of the pessimists, things are happening and advancing, and the fact that nothing leaked from the first meeting shows the seriousness of the two sides." Peres gave Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu credit for releasing 26 security prisoners as a gesture to the PA, adding that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas had to make hard choices, although Peres did not elaborate.
Ban echoed Peres's words about the lack of leaks, calling his meeting with Peres constructive. To read more of Ban's comments, click here.
