The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 59th and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa ranked 77th in the just-released Academic Ranking of World Universities for 2013 by the Center for World Class Universities at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. The Hebrew University was ranked 17th in mathematics with Tel Aviv University 33rd and the Technion in a group between 51and 75. The Technion was 18th and Rechovot's Weizmann Institute 23rd in computer sciences, followed by the Hebrew University at 28.
In the overall science rankings, the Technion placed 38th and the Hebrew University 40th. The Technion also ranked 38th in chemistry, where the Weizmann Institute made it into the group between 76 and 100. Tel Aviv and the Weizmann Institute ranked in the 51st through 75th places in physics. Tel Aviv joined the Hebrew University in the second 50 schools ranked high in social sciences. The two schools placed between 76 and 100 in economics and business.
