Top Rabbi to Intervene Following 2nd Day of Protests

Fresh protests took place Tuesday in Beit Shemesh. Twenty protesters are still in custody after Monday's demonstration in front of a construction site in Beit Shemesh. Now, the elderly Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky of Bnei Brak, considered a venerable Torah leader, is set to determine the true identity of the ancient cemetery at the site. He will lead a special three-judge panel which will tour the Beit Shemesh location. The protesters said that the construction, which has been halted for the time being, was desecrating a sacred space and Jewish burial ground. The rabbinical panel said upon completing their investigation, they will determine the sanctity of the location and determine the just course of action.
