Several Members of Knesset from the United Torah Judaism party praised the decision to cancel the Metzav standardized tests. "I congratulate the Minister of Education," stated MK Moshe Gafni, of the UTJ. His college MK Yisrael Eichler said he "welcomes the disillusionment" with the tests which have lost popularity with both students and educators.
Education Minister Shai Piron (Yesh Atid) had the Meitzav exams cancelled, at least for the 2014-2015 school year.
Yesh Atid chairman Finance Minister Yair Lapid, explained the decision Monday night on his official Facebook page, stating, "education is not about measurement, but learning."
