An event was held for Aryeh King, the founder of the Israel Land Fund regarding the upcoming vote for mayor and city council. King, now the head of the new United Jerusalem Party, lectured on the vote, which is scheduled for October. King has weighed running for city council or even for mayor. Michael Fuah and Shai Malka of the Manhigut Yehudi group spoke at the event as well. The Israel Land Fund has been active in repatriating Jewish residents to areas of Jerusalem occupied by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan between 1949 -1967. Such neighborhoods as the Yemenite Village and Maale Hazeitim have faced legal battles over Jewish versus Arab ownership. Such issues and how they relate to the upcoming elections were discussed at the event, which was held in Jerusalem on Sunday.
