Terror Survivor Chosen for Bayit Yehudi Jerusalem Vote

Dov Kalmanovitz has been chosen by the Bayit Yehudi party to head their list for Jerusalem city council elections. Kalmanovitz is certified public accountant and the head of the Zochrim Organization which supports terror victims and fallen soldiers. In 1988 he suffered third degree burns to 75% of his body when a child from the Ramallah area threw a firebomb at his car.

Municipal elections for both mayor, city council and regional council heads will take place in most cities through Israel in October. Municipal elections are held every 5 years. Voters in cities can vote separately for one mayoral candidate and one political party for city council. Many national parties represented in the Knesset such as Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) also exist on local city councils. Smaller local parties not represented in Knesset also run in municipal elections.
