Police Arrest Suspect in Terror Memorial Monument Theft

This week police arrested a resident of Abu Ghosh accused of stealing a memorial monument to victims of a terrorist bus bombing. The suspect denied the allegations.The theft was discovered in December. The suspect's remand was extended by a Jerusalem Magistrate Judge until Friday.

In 1989 sixteen people were killed and dozens injured in a terrorist attack on bus #405 from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It is believed that the iron and bronze monument was stolen to be used for scrap metal. It was located near Neve Ilan.

Amos Maimon, a bereaved family member spoke to Arutz Sheva news about the incident. He expressed anger at both the theft and the release of those responsible as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal.
