Court: 'Sick' Train Drivers Will Need Doctor's Note

The Histadrut Labor Federation and the Israel Railways workers union will ensure that each of the train drivers who called in sick on Wednesday was indeed sick and has a note from a doctor, it was decided on Wednesday evening following a hearing at the Labor Court.

Any driver who has a doctor’s note will be allowed to continue to stay home, but those who do not will have to return to work. 41 drivers called in sick with a “mysterious illness” between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, causing extensive train delays. Israel Railways said the drivers went on strike to protest changes in their work schedules that require them to work longer hours.
