Report: US Talking to Israel on Final-Status Security

Former United States general John Allen, appointed by Secretary of State John Kerry two months ago as military mediator between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, has formed a staff of 20 experts in Washington, Israel and Jordan to work with Israeli colleagues on the wording of possible security arrangements in the event of an Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria (Shomron), according to a Friday report by the Ma'ariv daily.

Allen has met twice with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and once with Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon. Because of the importance of the staff's recommendations, the sides are trying to maintain the secrecy of the staff's work.
