New Bank of Israel Governor to be Leonardo Leiderman

It seems that the new Goverrnor of the Bank of Israel, following present Governor Stanley Fischer's retirement and nominee Prof. Yaakov Frenkel's removal of his name from the candidacy, will be Professor Leonardo Leiderman.

Professor Leiderman teaches economics at Tel Aviv University and was a member of the senior management of Bank of Israel, as well as director of its research department for many years. He is now an advisor to Bank Hapoalim.

He thanked Prime Minister Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid for their faith in his ability to guide the Bank of Israel.
