Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas (also referred to as Abu Mazen) repeated his position that all Israeli citizens will be banned from living in the future State of Palestine. This ostensibly refers to Israelis of Jewish ethnicity, as he in the past has defined Israelis of Arab ethnicity to be Palestinians. He clarified his stance during a press conference in Cairo, Egypt. Abbas visited the country to speak with the interim Egyptian leaders who have taken over following the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi.
Reuters News Agency quoted Abbas as stating on Tuesday that "the final status will see not even one Israeli -- soldier or civilian -- on our land." Abbas continued, "we support the presence of an international or multi-national team similar to the one in the Sinai, Lebanon or Syria... we've done all the necessary concessions... and East Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine..."
