Ministries to Appeal Freeze on Tenders for New Ports

The Transportation Ministry and the Treasury said, Monday evening, that they will file an appeal with the Supreme Court to overturn a ruling freezing a plan to put out bids for new ports. The ruling was part of a decision that kept port workers from opening sanctions on Tuesday against the expansion.

The ministries said, in a statement, "The state insists on its right to establish new ports for the sake of increasing competition, lowering the cost of living and economic development." They based the appeal on the ruling in a case involving the Bezeq communications company "that the state has the right to promote competition."
