Hizbullah Threatens Europeans Over Terrorist Label

The Hizbullah organization threatened Europeans over its new terrorist label. "These states have made themselves fully responsible for any Israeli attack on Lebanon or Lebanon's resistance or any target of the resistance," stated Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hizbullah.

The European Union decided to label Hizbullah's military wing as an official terrorist organization this week. The confederation of states declined to list Hizbullah as a whole as a terrorist entity. Hizbullah operates mostly out of southern Lebanon and has sponsored numerous terrorist attacks on civilians in Israel, Europe and around the world. It waged the Second Lebanon War against Israel 2006. Hezbollah also has many members of Parliament in the Lebanese government.

Hizbullah said that the EU designation would give Israel more legitimacy to counterterrorism operations. "Israel can now claim to be fighting terrorism and to be bombing terrorist targets," Nasrallah stated.
