Likud Chooses Candidate for Mayor of Sderot

As the October elections approach, political parties are choosing their candidates to run for the mayoral and city council elections. On Wednesday, a Likud municipality committee nominated Alon Davidi to run for mayor of the southern city of Sderot. Davidi said that he would be proud to serve the citizens of Sderot and called to avoid what he termed "dirty politics. Sderot has been plagued by rocket attacks from Gaza since the 2005 Disengagement.

In October, most cities, municipalities and regional councils will hold elections for both mayor and city council members. Many of the same parties in the Knesset will field candidates. Smaller parties with no Knesset representatives have succeeded on a local level and will field candidates as well.
